CVS has opened a new relocated Ashfield Veterinary Surgery in Annfield Plain to offer more capacity and additional services to local clients and their pets.

The new purpose-built site on Morrison Road has a footprint which is significantly larger than the old Ashfield practice site in nearby Lanchester.

The relocated first opinion small animal practice has four consulting rooms, increased from an original two. New radiography, dental radiography andultrasonography equipment has been installed to offer a wider range of diagnostic tools, in addition to the current monitoring equipment for blood pressure, CO2 and in-house blood machines. The practice also has a new isolation unit for patients with infectious diseases.

Due to its increased size, Ashfield Veterinary Surgery has both separate cat and dog kennels and separate cat and dog waiting areas, to make pets’ time at the practice more comfortable and less stressful, especially for cats.

The practice hopes to attract additional vets to its four-strong and experienced vet team to staff its new premises. It has already increased its qualified veterinary nursing staff to four and new receptionists have also joined the Ashfield Vet team. This will give the practice the capacity to look after an increased number of clients and their pets from the local area.

Dr Catherine Foreman, Clinical Director at Ashfield Vets, said: “Our new modern site will mean we can offer an increased number of appointments for vets and nurses to our clients, meaning more pets can be seen more quickly.”

Ashfield Vets was originally set up in Lanchester, Durham as a mixed practice and was acquired by CVS Group in 2018.

CVS Group operates across small animal, farm animal, equine, laboratories and crematoria, with 473 veterinary practices and referral centres in the UK, the Republic of Ireland and the Netherlands. In the last five years the company has invested nearly £80 million in its sites, facilities and equipment, in addition to industry leading training and support, to give the best possible care to animals.
