CVS’ colleagues and clients have raised £18,943.85 for Pet Blood Bank UK since July 2022.

The veterinary group partnered with the blood-service-for-pets charity for one year as its Charity of the Year. It is one of the largest single donations the charity has received through a charity of the year collaboration.

To raise funds over the last 12 months, CVS has hosted customer and colleague collection boxes in its small animal first opinion practices and referrals hospitals. Its colleagues have also held numerous fundraising events – including sponsored walks and dog shows, as well as hosting Pet Blood Bank donation days.

The money raised from the partnership will help go towards funding Pet Blood Bank’s ongoing work to provide a lifesaving blood service. Last year over 5,000 units of blood were dispatched to vets across the UK and demand continues to rise. Pet Blood Bank is also committed to advancing transfusion medicine by providing accessible and high quality training for vets and nurses. In addition, donations help the charity to keep the cost of blood products as low as possible, and provide these for free to veterinary charities.

Deputy Chief Executive of CVS Group, Ben Jacklin, said: “Pet Blood Bank is a vital charity doing crucial work within our profession. There is no doubt that the level of funds raised is down to the tireless commitment shown by our colleagues up and down the country. I’d also like to recognise the role our clients have also made - as without them we would never have reached such a great total.”

Managing Director of Pet Blood Bank, Katrina Wilkinson said: “This generous donation from CVS Group has been incredible to receive. We are a small charity so need all the support we can get, and CVS has truly delivered The funds will go such a long way towards helping to save more lives by supporting our work at the blood bank. We are a charity for vets so being recognised by our colleagues at CVS Group in this way is so appreciated.”

CVS has recently announced its next charity partner as Guide Dogs for the Blind. It will soon be embarking upon its next fundraising challenges to raise money for the charity.

CVS Group operates across small animal, farm animal, equine, laboratories and crematoria, with around 500 veterinary practices and referral centres in the UK, the Republic of Ireland and the Netherlands. In the last five years the company has invested nearly £80 million in its sites, facilities and equipment, in addition to industry leading training and support, to give the best possible care to animals. For more information about CVS Group visitwww.careerswithcvs.co.uk .
