Dechra has taken on the distribution of Ketodolor, the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) and anti-rheumatic product for cattle, pigs and horses.

Ketodolor joins Meloxidolor (meloxicam) in Dechra’s NSAID range and is a clear yellow solution for injection.  It contains 100 mg/ml ketoprofen as its active ingredient and is indicated to reduce pain associated with lameness and parturient paresis in cattle, as well as improve the recovery rates in acute endotoxic mastitis in cattle.  It also reduces pyrexia and distress associated with bacterial respiratory disease.

It has a zero-milk withdrawal period in cattle, making it easy for farmers to use without discarding milk, and features a flexible withdrawal time in meat, with the shortest being for IV; for cattle meat the withdrawal time for IV administration is one day and for IM administration is four days.  If required, it can be used for three consecutive days in cattle.

In pigs, it is licensed to reduce pyrexia and respiratory rate associated with bacterial or viral respiratory disease and supports treatment of mastitis metritis agalactia syndrome in sows.  The meat withdrawal period is four days.

In horses, it is indicated to alleviate inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders and visceral pain associated with colic.

Alana McGlade, national sales manager at Dechra, comments: “We are delighted to have taken on the distribution of Ketodolor which will provide vets with flexible options when managing pain across a variety of species, including the management of pain associated with lameness in cattle.”
