This year’s VET Festival will once again put veterinary wellness at the heart of the event with an expanded Wellness Hub, including sessions run by the charity VetLife.

Activities on offer in the Wellness Hub include sessions from Vet Festival yoga teacher Michaela Noonan, who will teach both dynamic Vinyasa yoga and the slower Yin method.  She will also show delegates how to use yoga as a practical tool to manage stress and raw emotion and to enhance mood.

There will be talks on embracing veganism for a healthy lifestyle and a workshop to help delegates create a show-stopping 80s neon headdress for the VETFest™ Live Party on the Friday night.  Energy Coach Claire Davis will give talks on meditation and reducing stress while representatives from VetLife will be on hand to give confidential advice and support to delegates experiencing financial difficulties or other challenges.  They will also give talks on the charity’s work.  The Wellness Hub is generously supported by MWI Animal Health.

Commenting, Nicole Cooper, event director, said: “With the wellbeing of members of our profession increasingly under the spotlight, the Wellness Hub is central to VET Festival and, with the support of VetLife, we will again be offering our delegates a host of approaches and ideas to help them live healthier and more balanced lives.”

Eve Ritchie, Communications Officer at VetLife, added: “We are extremely grateful for VET Festival’s continued support. Providing Vetlife with a platform in the Wellness Hub gives us a fantastic opportunity to spread the word about the services and support we provide to the veterinary community. Supporting Vetlife also demonstrates VET Festival’s commitment to the importance of wellness for vet practices and staff.”

VET Festival 2019, now in its fifth year, aims to combine inspiring, world-class CPD for the whole practice team with an outdoor ‘festival’ atmosphere. The comprehensive clinical programme features globally recognised speakers who will share the latest insights and thinking in their areas of specialism.  Dedicated streams on nursing and on practice development and veterinary wellness complete the programme.  An exhibition of the latest products and services for all veterinary professionals takes place in a dedicated arena.

“Our mission is to support veterinary professionals and practices so that they can focus on doing what they do best – caring for the nation’s animals,” said Alan White, Group Commercial Director at MWI Animal Health. “We are concerned at the challenges facing so many dedicated veterinary professionals and supporting the Wellness Hub at VET Festival is a practical way in which we can offer help.  We hope that delegates enjoy the activities and talks on offer and take away practical solutions to enhance their work/life balance.”
