Dr Vicki Adams BSc DVM MSc PhD MRCVS has joined the Dignipets group as a partner, providing in-home hospice and end-of-life veterinary care for pets. The new partnership strengthens Dignipets’ service in Cambridge and West Suffolk, bringing Vicki’s unique blend of clinical, research and educational expertise to the group.

Vicki’s distinguished career spans more than 30 years. She worked as a small animal general, emergency and critical care veterinary surgeon in Canada before becoming an epidemiologist and moving to the UK to work at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket. She continues to work as an independent epidemiological consultant, carrying out research and providing support to veterinary surgeons and residents in practice. She was the founding editor of Veterinary Record Open and was a member of the feline expert panel for International Cat Care.

Alongside her new role, Vicki is Chief Executive of the Animal Cancer Trust (ACT), a charity dedicated to providing education, information and support for owners and vets on the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in pets.

“I’m delighted to be joining Dignipets,” said Vicki. “Supporting families through one of the most difficult times in their relationship with their pets is a real privilege. I am passionate about combining education with clinical care, and I look forward to helping owners make informed and gentle decisions. It is an honour to join a team that places such importance on empathy and communication in supporting pets and their families.”

Dr Merel Taal MRCVS DVM CHPV, Founder and Director of Dignipets, commented: “We are thrilled to welcome Vicki to Dignipets. Her breadth of experience, from frontline practice to research and education, makes her an outstanding partner to bring compassionate end-of-life care to families in Cambridge and West Suffolk. At Dignipets we believe every pet and family deserves care that is personal, respectful and supportive. Vicki’s expertise and empathy will ensure that pets in her community receive the very best hospice and palliative care at home.”

Dignipets’ Joint Venture Partnership model enables veterinary surgeons to run their own autonomous and flexible local service, while benefitting from central business support and clinical guidance from the group’s team of Certified Hospice and Palliative Care (CHPV®) vets.

The news comes as Dignipets continues to expand its network of partner-led practices, building a community of vets who enjoy purposeful work and place empathy and communication at the heart of end-of-life care.
