Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, has welcomed Louisa Simons to its management team as its new Chief Operating Officer.

As Chief Operating Officer, Louisa is responsible for the IT, Finance, Legal, Governance and Facilities functions at Dogs Trust, and has also become the Chair of Dogs Trust Ireland.

Before joining Dogs Trust, Louisa was Chief Operating Officer for the Money and Pensions Service. Louisa started her career at PwC, training as a Chartered Accountant, then joined the National Trust as Head of Internal Audit. She went on to become the Commercial Operations Programme Director for National Trust, before leaving to take on Chief Operating Officer roles at Corsham Institute and Innovate UK.

As well as bringing a wealth of experience to the role, Louisa also brings a love of dogs, having owned dogs for more than 25 years. She currently owns 11 year old Springer Spaniel Archie, and a two year old Romanian sheep dog cross called Roxy.

Louisa Simons, Chief Operating Officer at Dogs Trust, says:

“I’ve joined Dogs Trust at a very busy time for the animal welfare sector as it experiences an unprecedented demand on services. I am excited to be able to combine my skills and experience with my passion for dogs, and I look forward to helping create a better life for our furry best friends.”

Owen Sharp, Chief Executive of Dogs Trust, says:

“We are delighted to welcome Louisa to the Dogs Trust team. She brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise and Louisa’s appointment will help us to continue to grow as a charity and to support even more dogs and their owners.

“Louisa also brings with her a love of dogs, an essential characteristic for anyone working here at Dogs Trust!”
