Dovecote Veterinary Specialists, one of the most advanced and well-equipped veterinary specialist-led referral centres in the UK, is enhancing its specialist Internal Medicine department with the recruitment of Dr. Clara Casas Acuna DVM MRCVS DACVIM.
Clara graduated from the University of Cordoba in 2016 and recently became an American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Diplomate in Small Animal Internal Medicine.
After completing a one-year-rotating-internship in Valencia, Clara moved to Kent where she spent one year working in a first opinion practice. Clara then performed a small animal internal medicine internship followed by a residency at a referrals hospital in Derby.
Clara enjoys all aspects of medicine but particularly likes gastroenterology and respiratory. On joining Dovecote, Clara said: “Joining the Dovecote internal medicine team is an exciting step in my veterinary career. It offers the chance to deepen my expertise in complex medical cases while working alongside a dedicated and forward-thinking team. I’m passionate about contributing to the continued growth of our department and helping deliver exceptional care to an ever-expanding patient base.”
Clara is joining Dovecotes Internal Medicine department to work alongside Justine Barton, RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Medicine. Her appointment is reflective of the service’s continued growth in response to increasing demand.
The hospital boasts access to endoscopy, advanced imaging (CT and MRI scan) and is equipped to manage the full spectrum of disorders within the internal medicine field. These facilities twinned with a multi-disciplinary approach to each case has made Dovecote one of the leading referral hospitals for internal medicine cases in the region.
