Vets for Pets, one of the largest veterinary groups in the UK, has announced it has welcomed eight new joint venture partners (JVPs) since the start of 2023.

Partnership allows vets, Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) and Practice Managers to own and run their own veterinary practice, whilst benefitting from the support and guidance of Vets for Pets.

The news comes as the business focuses on expanding its network of practices run by partners who enjoy clinical freedom and independence.

Among the new partners is Simon Johnson who has become sole JVP of the Vets for Pets Preston practice. Simon started his career as a receptionist with the business more than ten years ago, before becoming a registered veterinary nurse (RVN) in 2018.

At Vets for Pets Denton, Andrew and Sarah Hendershot have taken over the partnership, relocating to the area from Kent with their three children after a period working in America. Both qualified vets, they are now the sole joint venture partners at the practice.

Emma Martin, an RVN practice manager at Vets for Pets Slough, has taken full ownership of the practice, having worked with the business to manage it for the last eight years.

While Cristina Cozmescu and Leah Whitlam have expanded their practices in the Midlands, adding Vets for Pets Leamington Spa to their successful ownership of Vets for Pets Coventry Walsgrave, which they’ve owned for the past five years.

Simon Johnson, new partner at Vets for Pets Preston and Head Veterinary Nurse at the practice, said: "After ten years in the veterinary industry, my dream of owning my own practice has finally come to fruition. I am so pleased to have such a wonderful team behind me as I embark on this new journey with Vets for Pets."

Anneli Randall, operations director at Vets for Pets, said: “We’re over the moon to have welcomed these eight new partners to the business. That now takes us to more than 30 new partners in the last year alone. They are all already enjoying the amazing support from our team and are up and running on our mentoring programme, giving them an expert in the business to lean on for guidance and advice.

“We’re seeing an increase in enquiries for the practice ownership scheme, with people recognising the guidance we’re able to provide to our partners, and are extremely proud to help more and more industry professionals take the next step to become a business owner.”
