A former chairman of NOAH who has guided one of the UK's leading animal health companies through a period of rapid growth has announced his retirement.
Bob Parmenter will retire from his role as Country Manager UK & Ireland at Dechra Veterinary Products at the end of the year, after more than 40 years working in the animal health industry.
Mr Parmenter, who joined the board of the National Office of Animal Health in 2002 and was chairman for two years until April 2012, joined Dechra in 2008.
A well-known and respected figure in the industry nationally, Mr Parmenter has been involved in numerous mergers and acquisitions completed by Dechra, including VetXX, DermaPet, Genetrix and most recently, Eurovet.
He said: “I'm delighted to have spent more than five exciting years with Dechra. It has been a period of substantial growth which has established Dechra as a leading player in the animal health sector as the company has opened up new markets and developed its portfolio.
“But I am particularly pleased with how we have developed our relationships with the veterinary professionals we support on a daily basis, from the creation of the Dechra Academy providing online CPD to the numerous industry events we sponsor and the client support material we have produced for practices across the UK and Ireland.”
Taking over the role, based at Dechra Veterinary Products head office in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, is Mark Floyd.
Mr Floyd, currently Dechra's National Sales Manager, said: “Bob's contribution both to Dechra in particular and the animal health industry generally cannot be underestimated.
“He will be a hard act to follow but I am very much looking forward to the challenge. We wish Bob well in his retirement and hope he has a chance to relax after five fantastic, but very busy, years here at Dechra!”.
Mr Floyd takes up new new position in January 2014.More from
