Jurox (UK) Limited, manufacturer of the anaesthetic Alfaxan, has announced its continued support for the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists (AVA).

Part of this support will see Jurox continue its annual sponsorship of the AVA website and its spring and autumn meetings.

The AVA spring 2016 meeting was held in Lyon, France. Dr Rich Irvine, veterinary services manager at Jurox UK, commented: “We had a fantastic meeting in Lyon.  Well done to Karine and her team for putting on such a great event. Jurox is delighted to be sponsoring the next two meetings in Prague and Manchester.”

In addition, the company will continue to host an informal Jurox reception the night before ‘Residents’ Day’ at AVA meetings as it has done before in the run up to the London, Nottingham and Lyon events.

Jurox is also keen to continue its collaboration with the AVA, helping to develop the next stage of the anaesthetic safety checklists. Jurox was involved with the design, production and distribution of the first AVA safety checklist and manual which has been made available in both electronic and printable form.

“Getting these checklists into clinics throughout the UK will really make a difference to patient safety. They are also proving very popular at conferences alongside the excellent talks delivered by members of the AVA on patient safety,” explains Dr Rich Irvine. “Our Jurox technical advisors, all of whom are vets and members of the AVA, are also able to deliver a discussion on patient safety in clinics which compliments the safety checklist.

“Our ongoing support of the AVA enables Jurox to strive towards best practice with an enthusiastic community of anaesthetists who share a passion in anaesthesia, analgesia and animal welfare.”
