Jurox (UK) Limited, manufacturer of the anaesthetic Alfaxan, has enhanced the extensive range of topics covered in its anaesthesia ‘lunch and learn’ meetings with the launch of a new session entitled ‘Considerations in Caesareans’.

The 14 topics covered in the ‘lunch and learn’ meetings now include: ‘Considerations in Caesarians’, ‘Premedication Review’, ‘Basic Anaesthesia Monitoring’, ‘Capnography’, ’Monitoring and Managing Blood Pressure’, ‘Dental Nerve Blocks’, ‘Anaesthetic Complications’, ‘Alfaxan Anaesthesia’, ‘Dealing with Hypothermia’, ‘Pain Scoring’, ‘Physiology of Pain and Analgesia’, ‘Optimising Recovery’, ‘Patient Safety’ and ‘RECOVER and CPR’.

The 45-60 minute sessions are carried out by members of Jurox’s team of eight field-based veterinary surgeons, who have already delivered 340 ‘in clinic’ training sessions to over 1,876 veterinary professionals throughout the UK this year.  The veterinary surgeons are trained by veterinary anaesthesia diploma holders, are members of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists (AVA) and many of the team still locum in practice to ensure their practical skills are maintained.

In addition to the ‘lunch and learn’ meetings, the Jurox team can also run discussions on practice protocols relating to pre-meds and analgesia and a series of ‘anaesthesia’ evening roadshows will be taking place later in the year over a three-course dinner.

“We take great pride in the investment we make in educating veterinary professionals in all areas of anaesthesia to ensure they make an informed choice not only on the anaesthetics that they use in practice but also the anaesthetic techniques, procedures and monitoring,” comments Dr Rich Irvine BVSc MRCVS, veterinary services manager at Jurox (UK) Limited.  “Our ‘lunch and learn’ meetings and in-clinic discussions on practice protocols relating to pre-meds and analgesia are hugely popular and a great way to re-evaluate practice protocols.”
