The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Fairless as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Kevin brings extensive leadership experience across professional membership organisations, industry bodies and purpose-led organisations operating in regulated environments. Throughout his career, he has successfully led professional communities and stakeholders through strategic, regulatory and commercial change, strengthening member value, organisational sustainability and long-term impact.
Kevin joins the BSAVA as it embarks on the next phase of delivering its strategic plan, which includes evolving its membership offer, transforming their digital experience through a new BSAVA website and mobile app, and building on recent initiatives such as BSAVA LUMOS and Rover.
Speaking about the appointment, BSAVA President Susan Little said: “The Board of Trustees and I are delighted to welcome Kevin as our new Chief Executive Officer. Kevin brings an exceptional combination of strategic vision, collaborative leadership and a genuine commitment to supporting people. We are particularly impressed by the clarity of thought he demonstrates on the opportunities and challenges ahead. I am confident that Kevin has the experience and leadership qualities needed to build on our successes and strengthen the support, value and voice we provide to the veterinary profession.”
The incoming CEO, who officially starts on 3rd August, said: “I am delighted to be joining the BSAVA at such an important point in its journey. The Association has a proud history, a strong reputation and a clear ambition to continue evolving to meet the changing needs of the veterinary profession.
“My focus will be on listening to members, colleagues, volunteers and partners, understanding what matters most to them and building on the strong foundations already in place. As the BSAVA approaches its 70th anniversary, this is an exciting opportunity to combine its proud heritage with new ways of working, helping to deliver the ambitious strategy now underway at the BSAVA. I look forward to working with the BSAVA team, its volunteers and wider veterinary community to continue to shape the next chapter.”
Interim CEO, Stacy Woodman, will work alongside the new CEO for a finite period to ensure a smooth handover. In welcoming the incoming CEO, she added: “It has been a privilege to lead the BSAVA during this transitional period for the Association and I look forward to supporting Kevin over the next few months. The BSAVA has a clear strategy, a talented team and strong momentum, and I am sure that Kevin will continue to build on the progress we have achieved together.”
