Leanne Hibberd, a veterinary surgeon at Woodlands Veterinary Group in Plymouth, has won a MacBook Air worth approximately £1000 in a prize draw to raise awareness of the Heart Health Panel guidelines amongst veterinary professionals.
Companion animal vets in the UK and Ireland were sent information on the guidelines, produced by some of the world’s leading veterinarians, veterinary cardiologists and nutritionists. They were asked four questions on the recommendations which covered the management of canine cardiac health through nutrition and lifestyle changes. Over 1000 veterinary professionals entered the competition.
The Heart Health Panel guidelines are entitled ‘Supporting canine health through nutrition and lifestyle’. They provide veterinary professionals with information on canine heart health, including advice on a balanced, complete diet, dietary supplements, such as omega-3, and an appropriate exercise regime. The panel’s guidelines are available as a booklet and are supported by a comprehensive leaflet for dog owners entitled ‘Support your dog’s heart’. The leaflet features information on canine heart health including risk factors, dietary advice, clinical signs of disease, diagnosis and the creation of a heart health management plan.
Both the owner leaflet and the panel guidelines are available from Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, and copies can be ordered from your local territory manager or by emailing [email protected].More from
