Local Vet Practice Raises Funds For 10-year-old Harry
Over 70 walkers and their canine companions took part in a dog walk organised by Greensands Vets, based in Woburn Sands Bedfordshire, to raise funds for a local resident, 10-year-old Harry Banks. Harry needs ground-breaking treatment in New York or Barcelona for a rare form of cancer.
Organised by Emma Pillow, Director and Vet of Greensands Vets, the walk took place on Sunday 27th January, in Wavendon Woods, Aspley Heath, raising £750 to add to Harry’s fund.
Harry, aged ten, has Neuroblastoma, an aggressive and rare children’s cancer. He has been in remission for two and a half years but in November 2018, Harry’s family were given the distressing news that he had suffered a very rare relapse affecting the central nervous system and needed an emergency operation to remove the tumour from his brain.
Walkers who turned out for this very worthy cause enjoyed a bright but chilly walk, followed by hot chocolate and snacks. “A big thank you to all who gave so generously to raise an amazing amount’ said Emma. ”We are grateful to Costa Coffee and Tesco for their generous donations of refreshments and especially to all our walkers and their dogs who came and took part in this enjoyable event”.
