New Online Computed Tomography Programme Launched By Improve International
Leading global veterinary CPD provider Improve International has launched an online programme in Computed Tomography (CT), offering a route to achieve a General Practitioner Certificate (GPCert), accredited and awarded by the International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies.
CT is already a key element of the diagnostic imaging capability of many practices with its use set to increase in the years ahead. Improve International’s new online programme is led by Dr Tobias Schwarz MA, DVR, DECVDI, DACVR, MRCVS EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and member of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. He is supported by course tutor Maurizio Longo DVM, PhD, Doctor Europaeus, MRCVS, Dipl ECVDI.
The content of the course will support veterinary surgeons in general practice who wish to deepen their knowledge and manage cases requiring complex diagnostic skills. Starting in June 2022, it consists of 12 modules covering the use of CT in different parts of the body delivered over 14 months. Eight modules consist of three lessons per week, two case studies, course notes and weekly summary videos. Three modules are case-based with five in-depth cases covered per week, together with and an end-of-month summary webinar or journal club with the specialist tutor. The final module gives candidates the opportunity to demonstrate their learning and present a case study to their peers and specialist tutor.
Registration for the programme also includes access to the RCVS Knowledge Library for the duration of the course and includes an e-book copy of Saunders, J. and Schwarz, T. (2011) Veterinary Computed Tomography. It provides a complete reference for the use of Computed Tomography (CT) in practice from the fundamentals of physics through to its practical application. The content supports Improve International’s comprehensive course.
As with all Improve International’s online learning programmes, modules are delivered using a range of high-quality learning techniques, including interactive lessons created by online learning experts. Lessons are supported by notes and videos, quizzes and a forum tutored by leading specialists, all hosted on a world-leading online learning management platform.
Commenting on the launch of this new programme, Operational Head for Improve International in the UK, Dr Charlotte French, said: “Advancements in imaging technology in recent years have ensured that CT scanning has become an essential diagnostic tool. We hope our course will ensure that veterinary surgeons with an interest in this area are equipped with the very latest knowledge and are more confident in using scanning to diagnose their patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.”
