Leading global veterinary CPD provider Improve International has selected Oncology as the subject for the latest in its series of Online Learning programmes. The programme offers a route to achieve the General Practitioner Certificate (GPCert) accredited and awarded by the International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies.

With the US Veterinary Cancer Society estimating that one in four dogs will develop cancer and that almost 50% of dogs over age 10 will suffer from the disease,* oncology is one of the fastest-growing areas of companion animal medicine. Improve International’s new GPCert programme, led by course director Owen Davies MA VetMB MVetMed MANZCVS (Small Animal Medicine) DipACVIM (Oncology), will help veterinary surgeons in general practice to develop their understanding of the disease and the growing range of treatments available to help them provide the highest standard of care to their cancer patients.

The course consists of 12 modules covering key clinical subjects in veterinary oncology delivered over 14 months. Each module consists of nine lessons, two case studies, course notes and weekly summary videos.

As with all of Improve International’s online learning programmes, modules are delivered using a range of high-quality learning techniques, including interactive lessons created by online learning experts. Lessons are supported by notes and videos, quizzes and a forum tutored by leading specialists, all hosted on a world-leading online learning management platform.

Dr Davies says: “Half of all canine cancers are treatable if caught early enough and new treatments are continuously being researched. The programme will guide delegates through the latest knowledge in state-of-the-art, compassionate cancer care for animals, helping them to provide safe and comprehensive diagnostics and treatments.”
