Hird & Partners, a mixed veterinary practice based in Halifax, is set to open a new, purpose-built, small animal clinic at a central site to provide an even higher standard of service for pets and their owners in West Yorkshire. The practice also has branches at Walsden and Ripponden that will benefit from the new clinic.
One of the largest veterinary practices in West Yorkshire, Hird & Partners has specialist equine, farm animal and small animal facilities at four separate sites in and around Halifax. It has gradually outgrown its well-established pet clinic at Blackwall so is building a new one at King Street in central Halifax.
Eddie Burt BVSc, MRCVS, Partner at the practice, explains: “Expansion wasn’t possible at Blackwall so we obtained permission to build a smart, new purpose-designed clinic on a new site at King Street. Work started at the end of June, with a formal sod-cutting ceremony overseen by members of staff and contractors. Completion is scheduled for January 2015, after which we will be able to provide even better standards of treatment and care for all our small animal patients.”
The new premises will have four consultation rooms, bespoke clinical, surgical and diagnostic suites and the convenience of on-site referral to cardiology and ophthalmology specialists. There will be fully equipped dog, cat, small animal and exotic pet wards, a spacious waiting area with a retail section, an on-site dispensary and a substantial meeting room in which client evenings can be comfortably hosted.
The new clinic will also provide a referral service for the practice’s branch surgeries at Walsden and Ripponden and has a large car park where on-site mobile MRI and CT scanner units can be easily accommodated and accessed.
Hird & Partners is one of very few independent veterinary practices left in Halifax. As such they provide their own out-of-hours emergency service, on their own premises, which can be very reassuring for owners.
Eddie Burt continued: “In our new premises we fully intend to carry on with and upgrade our out of hours services. We believe it is important and reassuring to our clients that they have the consistency of seeing our own team of vets in a familiar environment at anytime of the day or night.”
Hird & Partners holds the prestigious Tier 2 accreditation from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and many of the team are members of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA), ensuring they remain up-to-date with the latest advances in veterinary medicine and surgery.
Progress on the new build is being recorded on Hird & Partners Facebook page and the practice is soon planning to recruit new members of staff to support the expansion. To find out more visit: www.hirdandpartners.com or http://www.facebook.com/hirdandpartners/info3100 views
