A groundbreaking digital platform designed to revolutionise how veterinary practices and locum professionals connect has signed up almost 800 users in its first four months of operation.

Ronda Vet, an innovative Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, is transforming the veterinary employment landscape by cutting out the traditional agency middleman, giving both practices and locums full control, complete transparency and a 24/7 service.

Founded by veterinary surgeon Ibra Hernando after he had become increasingly frustrated by both sides of the hiring process, Ronda Vet directly addresses longstanding industry pain points, with co-founder Dimitra Sepou also identifying inefficiencies in the locum process and helping to shape the streamlined solution.

Ibra and Dimitra are supported by an experienced team which includes Registered Veterinary Nurses, locum vets and practice managers.

The platform allows practices to post available shifts instantly and allows locums to apply directly, facilitating faster, more efficient connections without endless emails or slow negotiations.

It is accessible via desktop and app, which is available for Android and iOS, and allows both locums and practices to manage everything from anywhere. App users can also receive instant notifications when there are new shifts posted in their favourite area or messages from the locums or practices directly in the in-app chat.

Ibra, a veterinary surgeon and locum of over six years who used locum work to fund his advanced training to become an orthopaedic surgeon, said the idea for Ronda was born from challenges he faced when launching his own mobile referral business.

‘TRANSPARENCY’

He said: “As a locum, I was frustrated by the lack of transparency and control.

“As a veterinary business owner, I was inundated with endless recruiter emails, faced slow negotiations, and dealt with mismatched expectations, all while relying on handwritten rotas.

“I created Ronda Vet to be the solution I needed but never had. It empowers practices to manage their temporary staffing needs directly and gives locums the freedom to find work on their terms, anytime, day or night.

“Ronda is not just another platform, it is a community built on mutual respect and transparency.”

A key disruptive feature of Ronda Vet is its mutual, transparent review system.

For the first time, both veterinary hospitals and locum professionals can review each other following a placement, creating a trusted community where subscribers can make informed decisions based on peer feedback – in turn, raising standards and ensuring better-matched expectations for all users.

The platform’s efficiency is already being proven in the market, with its potential for speed and simplicity dramatically illustrated when a locum placement was filled in just 16 minutes, while another in central London was even quicker, being filled in a mere 34 seconds.

Ibra said: “A brilliant example of Ronda’s efficiency was the speed with which a recent placement was filled – from the practice posting the shift out-of-hours, to the locum applying and the practice accepting it was 16 minutes, which is quite incredible and something we are extremely proud of.

“Even better than that, we had one in London which we were able to fill almost as soon as it came in – in just 34 seconds!

“This specific case highlights Ronda’s critical advantage in the industry – it is accessible 24/7, unlike traditional agencies which are often limited to standard business hours.”
