The British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) has reported the highest attendance in the past seven years at its annual Congress last month. With almost 1700 attendees, representing a 4% increase on 2018 in overall attendees, a buzzing exhibition hall and a waiting list for teaching sessions, the three-day equine veterinary educational extravaganza delivered beyond expectations.

BEVA Congress is world renowned as the ultimate educational, knowledge sharing and networking event for the equine veterinary profession, designed by vets for vets. This year the event delivered more than 90 hours of high quality CPD lectures, workshops and practicals across six separate streams, over three days. 100+ veterinary industry leaders showcased their wares in the vibrant exhibition hall and delegates indulged in a full menu of outstanding socials.

This year’s figures showed a 9% increase in vets attending and overseas delegates increased by 7% compared to last year. 74% of delegates had been qualified for more than 10 years and therefore likely to be decision-making directors, partners or senior members of their practice.

BEVA Congress’s scientific programme was highly praised again this year, with delegates awarding it an average score of 4.7 out of 5 stars. 94% of delegates said they will put what they learnt into practice and use it in their day-to-day role. 94% also said Congress was good value for money.

Positive comment flowed on the feedback forms, such as:

“Very enriching, the best way to make contact with the highest equine specialists.”

“It is the best equine medicine Congress in the Europe one can attend.”

”A superb mix of information, new developments, industry debates, networking opportunities and social stuff.”

“Amazing experience. Meet so many new friends. Lectures of good quality and a huge array of choices.”

Birmingham’s ICC substantial exhibition hall was bursting with a diverse array of exhibition stands and benefited from the added attraction of the demonstration area upstairs, which drew in flocks of delegates who were keen for the chance for some exclusive hands-on practical work.

BEVA Congress was also lauded by exhibitors: Dr Ruedi Steiger CEO of Swissvet, who won the Veterinary Practice Best New Exhibitor Award for their streamlined patriotic display of power dentistry equipment. said: “We have distributors throughout Europe, but it is the first time Swissvet has exhibited at BEVA. It has been a fantastic experience and I am thrilled to have won this award. I definitely plan to come back next year.”

Veterinary Extras Ltd said: “We had a wonderful experience at BEVA. The team were of great help to us as it was our first time. Everything went very smoothly, from the exhibit set up time on Wednesday to pack up time on Saturday afternoon. This was due to the professional team behind the scenes who ensured that we were well prepared for the event, even before we had arrived.

“We had a fantastic response from the Veterinary attendees through both sales and forging future relationships. In addition we had the opportunity to meet with various distributors who are now vying to distribute our products in the UK and throughout the world.”

Next year’s BEVA Congress will be held in Birmingham from 9-12 September 2020.  For further information visit www.beva.org.uk.
