SPANA Vet Hannah Davies took part in the 100-mile RideLondon cycling challenge last week to raise funds for the international animal charity.

Hannah has so far raised £225 for SPANA after completing the event, which saw her cycle from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London to Box Hill in Surrey on 30 July. Joining 24,000 other cyclists, Hannah completed the route in 6.5 hours.

SPANA is a charity that provides free veterinary treatment to working animals, such as horses, donkeys and camels, in developing countries around the world. These working animals do the jobs of trucks, tractors and taxis and are relied upon by many of the world’s poorest people for their livelihoods. However, without SPANA, there is often no veterinary treatment available for these hardworking animals when they are sick or injured, or their owners have no means to pay for it.

Hannah Davies, Veterinary Programme Advisor at SPANA, said: “I’m so proud to have completed this challenge and to have raised vital funds for SPANA. It was certainly a gruelling task at times, and unfortunately I had to deal with two punctures, but it was a fantastic achievement for me personally.

“Working as a vet for SPANA, I can see first-hand the difference that we can make to the lives of working animals and the people who depend on them. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me – this money is hugely appreciated and will ensure that even more working animals can receive the care they need.”
