Cover of leafletThe Animal Welfare Foundation (AWF) has produced a leaflet for clients on the pre- and post-operative care of their pet, batches of which can be ordered by veterinary practices. The leaflet aims to reassure pet owners by talking them through what to expect before, during and after the operation so that their dealings with the practice at this stressful time are positive. Tiffany Hemming, Chair of Trustees, said: “The leaflet also encourages clients to make the most of their time with the vet or vet nurse which should reassure them and possibly increase their sense of value for money. “The advice should help avoid some of the distress clients can feel when their animal has to have an operation which will hopefully make practices’ dealings with worried clients easier.” The leaflet coversPauline Graham, Senior Vice President of the Veterinary Practice Managers Association said: “Communication and clear understanding is key. The leaflets produced by AWF are a tool to assist everyone in practice and promote the health and welfare of our companion animals. They incorporate all the relevant points that pet owners need to know and provide added value to our professional services.” ‘Pre- and post-operative care - your guide to caring for your pet before and after an operation’ can be ordered in bulk from the Animal Welfare Foundation in return for a donation to the charity which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. To order the leaflets contact [email protected] or 020 7908 6375. Alternatively the leaflet can be downloaded from http://www.bva-awf.org.uk where a donation can also be made.
