The Animal Welfare Foundation (AWF) has produced a leaflet for clients on the pre- and post-operative care of their pet, batches of which can be ordered by veterinary practices.
The leaflet aims to reassure pet owners by talking them through what to expect before, during and after the operation so that their dealings with the practice at this stressful time are positive.
Tiffany Hemming, Chair of Trustees, said:
“The leaflet also encourages clients to make the most of their time with the vet or vet nurse which should reassure them and possibly increase their sense of value for money.
“The advice should help avoid some of the distress clients can feel when their animal has to have an operation which will hopefully make practices’ dealings with worried clients easier.”
