The Bella Moss Foundation will be present at the BVNA conference this year thanks to Janssen Animal Health and Park Veterinary centre (Liverpool). The Foundation, which began in 2005 as an information website for pet owners has now developed into an internationally active registered charity, has been working with the veterinary profession since 2006. BMF at BVNA will be launching two new websites. www.veterinarynursetrainingonline.org is an educational tool for practice staff designed to show clear examples of how resistant infections can be dealt with and prevented in practice. Since BMF began we have recognised the importance of working collaboratively with the veterinary profession and President Jill Moss has facilitated and hosted two international conferences and two series of CPD nationwide seminars. This has principally been aimed at practicing vets, and the time has now come to engage fully with veterinary nurses. The Foundation will be linking its stand at BVNA ( 029) to its educational website Veterinary Nurse Training Online so that nurses can test it out for themselves giving nurses the opportunity to validate their knowledge through a questionnaire and certificate. Visitors to www.veterinarynursetrainingonline.org can access written information on a series of subjects related to resistant infections and infection control, take a pictorial tour of veterinary premises and identify examples of good and bad practice, and take a multiple-choice questionnaire to test their knowledge. The content of the website has been developed in collaboration with the Royal Veterinary College and the College of Animal welfare and is sponsored by Pet Plan Charitable Trust. Wendy Nevins Practice Manager from Park Veterinary Centre, Liverpool will be helping BMF President Jill Moss on the BMF stand. Wendy Nevins “We fully support The Bella Moss Foundation in promoting MRSA education to Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses. It is extremely important that as a profession we keep our knowledge on this matter current. Veterinary Nurses are often in the front line of infection control within practice and it is essential that Veterinary Nurses are aware of the level of risk involved, and how to manage this risk so that it can be kept to a minimum”. Jill Moss (President of BMF) “Without the help of Park Veterinary Centre and Janssen Animal health BMF could not be present at BVNA this year and we are very grateful for their support”.
