Vets4Pets Ayr and Irvine - Royal Ramble
Vets4pets Raises More Than £1,200 For Local Hospice
Vets4Pets, part of the Pets at Home Group, has raised more than £1,200 for Ayrshire Hospice.
A team of 22 colleagues from local veterinary practices in Ayr and Irvine joined forces with their clients to complete the ‘Royal Ramble’ – a sponsored dog walk along the Ayr beach promenade – to raise much needed funds for a local charity.
The team raised an impressive £1,257 – more than double their target – that will now be donated to Ayrshire Hospice.
Ayrshire Hospice, which is temporarily based at East Ayrshire Community Hospital whilst its site in Ayr undergoes a major refurbishment, has been providing specialist palliative care to adults with life-limiting illnesses for more than 30 years. The support and services the charity provides is designed to help people live as actively as possible until the end of their lives, however long that may be.
Georgina Mackie, Practice Manager at Vets4Pet Ayr & Irvine, said “Our Royal Ramble was a fantastic day out, and it was a great way to bring together colleagues and clients whilst raising money for such a good cause. Ayrshire Hospice is a brilliant organisation that has provided much-needed care to our family members over the years, so it’s a charity very close to our hearts.
“Giving back to the local community is also something we’re incredibly passionate about and it is an integral part of our social value strategy, Our Better World Pledge. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all those who took part and donated – we are thrilled with the amount raised and know it will make a real difference to Ayrshire Hospice.”
Claire Stuart-Paulin, Senior Fundraiser at Ayrshire Hospice, added: “We are extremely grateful to the staff at Vets4Pets for choosing to support the Ayrshire Hospice with their Royal Ramble. We were delighted to see the sun come out, as everyone put so much effort into their costumes, and I’m quite sure the pets stole the show as they walked along the beach promenade! The support given to us by the community is always greatly appreciated, and the care and services provided by the Hospice couldn’t continue without it.”
The Royal Ramble is the latest in a series of fundraising events organised by Vets4Pets Ayr and Vets4Pets Irvine, all of which are designed to support worthwhile causes.
The team recently raised money to provide the local community with a defibrillator; regularly holds donation clinics with Pet Blood Bank UK – the only UK charity that provides a blood bank service for vets; and in 2017 raised funds for the not-for-profit organisation Smokey Paws, which helped to kit out fire stations throughout south, east and north Ayrshire with specially designed pet oxygen masks.
The fundraising initiatives also form part of the Pets at Home Group’s social value strategy, Our Better World Pledge, and supports its goal of becoming the most responsible pet care business in the world. This includes commitments to positively impact the life of every pet in the UK by 2030, enhance the lives of one million people by 2030 and to become net zero by 2040.
