Vicky Ford-Fennah Is New Tutor For ONCORE
ONCORE Online Learning have added a new course to their Anaesthesia Series, entitled 'Anaesthesia Monitoring - getting the basics right'. The course was put together following release of a survey from ONCORE asking potential participants which topics would be of most value to them. Out of over 120 survey responses, this course topic came out top, demonstrating nurses' desire to stay up to date on the essentials of monitoring their anaesthesia patients.
It doesn't really come as a surprise to Jill Macdonald, RVN and course developer for ONCORE, who says:
"Most veterinary nurses are responsible for the monitoring and management of anesthetised patients every day whilst in clinical practice - it is one of their key clinics responsibilities, and it's always reassuring to revise the topic, ensure you have the most current knowledge, and discuss difficult scenarios with others."
The course covers some key topics in anaesthesia monitoring, including:
- Pre-anaesthetic assessment
- Anaesthetic records
- Safety checklists
- Monitoring parameters
- Different anaesthetic and analgesic drugs and their effects
- Basic fluid therapy
As with all of ONCORE's courses, there is provision of tutor-supported learning, and Vicky Ford-Fennah, anaesthesia nurse at Bristol Vet School and holder of a VTS (anesthesia/analgesia) will be taking the helm, for this, her first course with ONCORE.. Jill was delighted to welcome Vicky to the ONCORE tutor team.
"Vicky is an ideal tutor for this course, as not only is she is an accomplished nurse anaesthetist, but also has teaching experience both in a practice/hospital environment, and through lecturing at many events. She is also the veterinary nurse representative for the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists so is well-informed on current best practice and any advances in her field." says Jill.
If you would like to take part in interactive learning, have opportunity to discuss the many aspects of monitoring anaesthesia, have questions answered that may have been lingering for some time, and create your own, practice resources for your workplace; then take a look at the course information page here: https://www.oncoreepd.co.uk/product/anaesthesia-monitoring-getting-the-basics-right/
