What are the ingredients to successful and lasting weight loss? As feline and canine obesity continues to rise, Royal Canin is hosting a webinar which will guide Veterinary Nurses in how to run the perfect 30-minute obesity consultation. Starting at 8.30pm on Wednesday 23 April, the hour-long webinar will feature Shelley Holden VN (from the University of Liverpool’s Weight Management Clinic) alongside Royal Canin’s External Nutritional Advisor, Sarah Collins RVN. Shelley will talk through the preparations which need to be made by the vet nurse in advance of the consult, before outlining a simple four-stage process for nurse clinics. Sarah will then discuss Royal Canin’s wide-ranging nutritional solutions, recently bolstered by the introduction of two new Satiety diets, as well as the support available for delivering top quality weight management clinics. Sarah Collins VN explained: “We want to use this webinar to highlight the need to prepare for obesity consults and tailor advice to each individual animal and owner. Each case is different, whether it’s the pet’s feeding behaviour, their metabolism or their owner’s willingness to comply with veterinary advice.” Any nurse, vet or receptionist interested in attending can register for the free webinar by visiting www.royalcanin.co.uk/targetweight. Those who attend will hear about ‘The 30 Minute Consult’ manual, an illustrative flip-chart style aide which will walk you and your clients through the ideal weight management consultation in a step-by-step fashion. These manuals will be made available shortly after the webinar from your local Veterinary Business Manager. Royal Canin webinars are easy to join - all you need is a computer (with speakers) which is connected to the internet. CPD certificates will be made available online to those who attend the event.
