COURSE DESCRIPTIONThis practical course has been developed for equine veterinarians who have experience with lameness investigations and provides a critical overview of possible causes of hindlimb lameness, diagnostic anaesthetic strategies and how to interpret nerve and joint block results, via a regio-anatomic approach. Discussions on the upper hindlimb as a cause of lameness (hip joint, pelvic and sacroiliac problems), Objective Lameness Evaluation and on systemic and intra-articular joint therapies will round the course off. All speakers/instructors are internationally renowned in the field of lameness diagnostics and spend a significant proportion of their clinical work investigating complex lameness cases. To participate in the On-Location Portion, attendees are required to have first worked through the corresponding online Lecture Series 'Hindlimb Lameness Diagnostics (incl. This will then be followed by the obligatory Wine & Cheese Reception allowing for attendees to socialise with colleagues and the speakers/instructors.On the second day, 7 hours of practical sessions will give attendees plenty of opportunity to train the different injection techniques on whole horses and specimens and to get tips and tricks in small groups (2 4 attendees per ultrasound machine), under the supervision of the specialists. Each attendee will rotate through the following practical stations:Subjective Lameness ExaminationObjective Lameness EvaluationNerve & Joint Blocks (incl. ultrasound-guidance)Ultrasound of the Metatarsus, Tarsus or Stifle Joint Region chosen by each group individually2 hours of clinical cases evaluated via subjective and objective lameness evaluationThe course fee includes coffee/tea breaks, a wine & cheese reception, lunch and a certificate of attendance. To participate in the On-Location Case-Discussions & Practical Sessions, attendees are required to have first worked through the Lecture Series (included in the price). Early course registration is recommended as there are only a limited number of places available due to the highly practical nature of this course.
