Caring for hospitalised patients requires close attention to detail, confident clinical decision-making and a practical understanding of the monitoring and supportive techniques that can make a real difference to patient comfort and outcome.
This practical one-day course is designed to help you strengthen your inpatient nursing skills through a hands-on, evidence-based approach that you can apply directly in practice. Through interactive, case-based learning, you will explore key areas of inpatient care including pain assessment and analgesia, assisted feeding, blood pressure monitoring, ECG interpretation and urinary catheter management.
By the end of the course, you will feel more confident in supporting hospitalised patients, recognising important changes in their condition and contributing to high standards of inpatient nursing care.
Topics to be covered include:
Pain assessment using evidence-based pain scoring systems
Multimodal analgesia and pain management strategies
Assisted feeding, including feeding tube placement, care and troubleshooting
Accurate blood pressure measurement and interpretation
Recognising and responding to hypo- and hypertension
Monitoring key parameters including ECG, SpO2 and ETCO2
Identifying abnormalities in patient monitoring and acting appropriately
Urinary catheter placement, aftercare and infection prevention
Applying inpatient nursing principles to clinical cases in practice
