This highly practical two day hands-on cadaveric course will focus on internal fixation, for example locking and non-locking plates, intramedullary pins, K-wires and orthopaedic wire. The course will review the principles and practice of each of these techniques. The days will comprise of multiple surgical exercises and you will be able to choose fracture types and surgical techniques that you wish to perfect. Uniquely, delegates will have access to post-operative radiographic facilities allowing your surgical repairs to be assessed by the course tutor. This represents an exceptional learning experience.
Who is it for?
This course is designed for veterinary surgeons with a good general experience of orthopaedic surgery. Delegates should understand internal fixation techniques including compression, neutral and bridging plates, lag and position screw, locking and non-locking plates. Delegates should also be familiar with orthopaedic anatomy and standard surgical approaches to the bones and joints.
