COURSE DESCRIPTION

Developed for equine practitioners with a good working knowledge of distal limb tendonitis and desmitis, this course covers how to devise rehab protocols consisting of a combination of therapeutic exercise, use of different rehabilitation modalities and therapeutic shoeing to maximize horses’ chances of returning to previous levels of exercise.

To participate in the On-Location Portion, attendees are required to have first worked through the corresponding online Lecture Series ‘Rehabilitation for Lower Limb Tendon & Ligament Conditions’.

On the practical day, 7 hours of practical small-groups sessions on live horses and case-discussions will allow attendees to become familiar with therapeutic modalities and physical therapy exercises that can be passed on to horse owners. Each attendee will rotate through the following stations:

Assessment of the Foot, Limb & Tendon/Ligament Complex
Assessment of Pain/Posture & Importance to Recovery
Photobiomodulation for different Stages of Tendon/Ligament Rehabilitation Ultrasound, Laser, Micro-current & Neuromuscular Stimulation
Protecting, Strengthening & Mobilising Tendons/Ligaments during Rehab (Boots, Braces, Stimulators, Poles etc.)
Kinesiology Taping for Tendon/Ligament Recovery & Postural Correction.
Therapeutic Exercises for Tendon/Ligament Recovery


The day finishes with Discussion of Clinical Cases (live Horses) & PowerPoint Case-Discussions.

The course fee includes, coffee/tea breaks, lunch and a certificate of attendance. To participate in the On-Location Case-Discussions & Practical Sessions, attendees are required to have first taken part in the Lecture Series (purchased as an ‘Extra’ when registering for the On-Location Case-Discussions & Practical Sessions). Early course registration is recommended as there are only a limited number of places available due to the highly practical nature of this course.
