This one-day course will provide colleagues in general practice with an up-to-date review of how to approach and manage patients presenting with diabetes mellitus, with consideration being given to both canine and feline patients. This course will use case examples and a problem-orientated medicine approach to address:
The different types of diabetes mellitus encountered in veterinary practice and their causal aetiologies.
The medical and dietary management options currently available and how to choose the correct option for each patient.
A glimpse into treatment options that are currently in clinical trial and may become available in the near future.
How to approach, investigate and manage patients that just don’t seem to respond to treatment or remain stable.
Who is it for?
The course will be undertaken in an as interactive a manner as possible using real-life case examples as discussion points and problem-solving exercises, so delegates need to come prepared to get involved in the discussion and bring their experience, enthusiasm and their own case stories with them – there will be no such thing as a silly question!
