140th Branch Partner Joins Medivet

Mrs Emily Ward-Smith, owner of Dinas Vets in Dinas Powys, South Wales, has become the 140th Branch Partner to join the Medivet community.  Emily merged her practice with the Medivet Group in September this year, and consistent with Medivet’s Branch Partnership model, is staying on with her team to support the growth of the practice for the future.

Under the new Branch Partnership structure, Dinas Vets will now receive full management and back office support from Medivet, enabling Emily and her team to focus more fully on clinical work and client service.

Medivet is the only vet-owned and vet-led corporate partnership in the UK veterinary sector.  As experienced veterinary surgeons and previous Branch Partners, they have a deep clinical understanding as well as a solid grounding in the running of a successful practice. 

Branch Partnership is offered to driven vets who either sell a share of their practice to Medivet or buy into one of its existing practices. The partnership ethos means that all partners have a stake in and responsibility for the continued success of the practice.

Mrs Ward-Smith has particular interests in Emergency and Critical Care, Feline Medicine and Veterinary Acupuncture.  She opened Dinas Vets in 2012 and it now employs a team of eight.   Commenting on the merger she said: “Partnering with Medivet was right for me and my practice because I wanted to offer my staff better development opportunities and give my clients a higher quality service. From a personal perspective, I also wanted to be able to focus on the clinical work I really enjoy rather than needing to split my time to get all of the support work done.

“I’m enjoying having a network of other practices that I can tap into for support and advice.  It makes me feel less isolated and reminds me that I am striving towards a common goal with like-minded people.”
