As veterinary surgeons will know well, bladder health problems are common in cats. Although, many conditions are idiopathic, the most common cause of feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) in cats under 10 years is believed to be feline idiopathic cystitis. In addition to an environment modification approach to FLUTD , providing behavioural enrichment opportunities for indoor cats and diet and water alterations to increase water intake, supplementary nutraceutical support may also be beneficial.
The usual problem when giving anything to a cat is, will they eat it? Easeflow is a new palatable treat based chew, which contains a blend of ingredients that may help soothe feline bladders. Each chew contains 125mg N-Acetyl Glucosamine , 37.5mg L-Tryptophan , 50mg D-Mannose The chews also contain a natural tuna and dried cheese flavouring and, may be fed whole or crumbled into food. Easeflow is available in pots of 60 and 180 chews from all Veterinary Wholesalers.
To assist veterinary practices, Alstoe has produced a client leaflet, entitled “The Tales of Tuna the Cat”. The leaflet helps explain in a simple cartoon format a cat’s behavioural changes that may be due to bladder problems, making it easier for a pet’s owner to notice any key triggers that may be symptomatic and to seek veterinary help.
“We have introduced the Easeflow chews in a format that cats will enjoy and therefore make it more convenient for the owner to feed than the powdered alternatives“, explained Adelaide Ellerington, Product Manager from Alstoe Animal Health.More from
