Andy Moores Certified To Perform 3rd Generation TATE Elbow Replacements

Renowned orthopaedic surgeon Andy Moores was invited to participate in the inaugural TATE technology course for third-generation implant procedures held in Boston, US, in June. This invitation recognises his expertise and dedication to orthopaedic surgery, making him one of a very small number of surgeons worldwide certified to perform third-generation TATE elbow replacements and the only surgeon in the South of England.
Elbow replacement surgery, despite advancements in both the implant and technique, remains a complex procedure with a demanding rehabilitation process. However, for the right candidates, elbow replacement offers the potential for significant improvement in joint function and pain relief, transforming the lives of dogs that would otherwise suffer from permanent discomfort.
With over 20 years of experience in elbow replacement surgery, Andy has witnessed the evolution in this technology. The TATE Elbow, which was used in the 2010s at Andy’s previous clinic, marked a significant advancement in the field from the IOWA State system before that. Though it was an improvement, issues such as implant loosening posed challenges for some dogs. Now, the TATE system has undergone a complete redesign, resulting in a vastly improved third-generation implant.
