Anesketin is being introduced by Dechra Veterinary Products from February 2014
A rapid acting dissociative anaesthetic containing Ketamine, licensed for cats, dogs and horses, is being launched by Dechra Veterinary Products.
Anesketin, containing Ketamine 100mg/ml solution for injection is indicated for induction of anaesthesia. It is the latest addition to Dechra's analgesia and anaesthesia portfolio which also includes Comfortan, which was introduced to the market in 2013.
The product can be used as a sole agent for restraint and minor surgical procedures where muscle relaxation is not required in cats and, depending on the duration and type of procedure, it can be used in a number of different ways.
Dechra Brand Manager Carol Morgan said: “Anesketin is a versatile product which can be used as a sole agent in cats or in combination with appropriate sedatives and analgesics in cats, dogs and horses for induction and maintenance of anaesthesia.
“We are delighted to launch Anesketin as an addition to our portfolio, one of a number of new products from Dechra.
“Licensed for use in cats, dogs and horses, the withdrawal period for meat, offal and milk is limited to only one day and the product does not require any special storage conditions.
“Dechra now has a wide range of analgesics and sedatives. This not only further strengthens its position as a market leader in critical care, but demonstrates its commitment to a product pipeline which supports vets in general and equine practice.”
Anesketin is available in 10 ml vials.More from
