BEVA Congress Embraces Sustainability And Accessibility
BEVA Congress (10 – 13 September 2025, ICC Birmingham) has introduced some new sustainability and accessibility initiatives this year, making Europe’s largest equine veterinary event even more planet and user-friendly.
“Our plan is to deliver the perfect mix of outstanding learning opportunities, together with a lively exhibition hall and exciting socials against a backdrop of sustainability and inclusivity,” said BEVA Congress Committee Chair Rose Tallon. “No matter your age, stage or geographic location Congress is your unmissable annual equine veterinary event.”
This year’s sustainability initiatives include
- Recycled Lanyards to cut down on waste without compromising on quality.
- Biodegradable Products such as coffee cups that will break down naturally.
- Paperless Registration for a faster, cleaner, and lighter experience, with delegate schedules, maps, and session information all included on the Congress App.
- Re-Use Where We Can From rechargeable batteries and event signage to the exhibition hall structures and even the annual dinner décor (those lanterns are in their third glorious year!).
- Environmentally Responsible Venue which holds an ISO 14001:2004 accreditation for environmental management.
- Greener Exhibitor Stands exhibitors who are encouraged to get creative with energy-efficient designs and a new Sustainable Stand Award to celebrate the best ideas.
- Speaker Gifts That Last: we have chosen practical, high-quality items that are built to last rather than throwaway trinkets.
The Congress team has also introduced some thoughtful additions to help make the renowned Congress experience more comfortable, inclusive, and supportive for everyone this year:
- Video Guided Tour (available the day before Congress)
Big events can feel overwhelming- especially for those who may be neurodivergent or experience anxiety. The video tour gives delegates a chance to familiarise themselves with the venue in advance, so that they know what to expect, can plan their days and feel more at ease the moment they arrive. - Quiet Space: This dedicated space will give delegates the opportunity to pause, recharge, and take a breather whenever they need it.
- Prayer Room: A private, respectful space for prayer, reflection, or quiet time is available to support attendees of all faiths and beliefs.
- Sunflower Lanyards: Available at the registration desk, sunflower lanyards offer a discreet way for people with hidden disabilities to signal that they may need a little extra time or support.
- Pronoun Stickers: Also available at registration, these are a small but meaningful step toward creating a space where everyone feels seen. Optional, of course - but helpful in showing respect for each other's identities and making interactions smoother and more inclusive.
- Parent & Child Room: A quiet, comfortable space for parents and little ones to take a break, feed, or just have a moment of calm during a busy day.
- EDI Community Breakfast – Friday Morning: Whether delegates are already working in equity, diversity, and inclusion or simply want to learn more, this breakfast is a relaxed, welcoming way to share ideas and connect with others who care.
Delegates at BEVA Congress will have access to more than 90 hours of live and on-demand CPD. It will cover almost every aspect of equine medicine, surgery and practice, via presentations, interactive discussions, debates and workshops. This year’s theme ‘Use it wisely or lose it forever’ brings an antimicrobial focus to several sessions as well as a dedicated section on antimicrobial stewardship. It will culminate in the Peter Rossdale Plenary Lecture to be presented by Prof. Scott Weese on the Friday afternoon.
To chill out after a busy day, delegates can dip into the legendary social scene and enjoy the benefits of networking in a friendly and informal environment. In the atmospheric exhibition hall they can meet up with major players in the equine sector, network for both business and career opportunities and find out about new products and innovations as they hit the market.
BEVA members prices for a three-day pass are £599 for vets and £225 for vet nurses for all three days (with concessionary available for those in their first three years of graduation or earning less than £25,000). Day tickets and practice passes are also available.
