Top class CPD might be the reason you really come to Congress, but it's important to make time to relax and have fun too. We will make sure you are well fed and watered during your stay, and that there's something in the social programme that will help to create Congress memories that will last a lifetime - or at least until the next year!
As 2007 is our 50th Anniversary year, our Congress team have worked hard on producing a social programme you are going to really love. We are putting on a special 50th Anniversary Public Lecture, have a top UK comedian coming to party night, and our musical entertainment is being provided by legends of pop and soul.
On Saturday there is definitely going to be a Party Night to remember. Come early to take advantage of the bonus Happy Hour, where your free drinks tickets are worth double. Then our first act will make sure you stay happy – as top UK comedian, Bill Bailey, takes to the stage. Bill Bailey’s comedy credentials include a Perrier Award nomination and the prestigious Best Live Stand-up prize at The British Comedy Awards. He’s now a primetime TV favourite, with appearances on quiz shows such as Have I got News for You and Never Mind The Buzzcocks, and most recently in the wildlife conservation series Wild Thing, I love You.
Our musical entertainment this year is provided by soul legend Ruby Turner. A huge Congress hit when she performed alongside Jools Holland in 2005, Ruby returns with a voice that has been likened to Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin. Natasha Hamilton, who had more than a dozen top-ten hits with Atomic Kitten, follows, singing some of the band’s best-known numbers as well as classic covers. That’s not where the entertainment ends, as Ska Wars return by popular demand and a disco will take you through to the early hours. This packed event demands stamina!
