BSAVA Congress, the world’s leading small animal veterinary conference, united the profession with resounding success again this year. Packed lectures and a buzzing exhibition hall accommodated a grand total of more than 6500 delegates and enthusiastic feedback has been received from exhibitors and attendees.

While delivering more than more than 450 hours of CPD through lectures and the exhibition, Congress also served the important benefit of bringing delegates together from all walks of veterinary life to share experiences, gather inspiration and return to practice with up to date knowledge and reinvigorated enthusiasm.

Angharad Belcher, Head of Partnership at the BSAVA explains: “Our role as the BSAVA is pivotal throughout the veterinary career, and the services we provide - from mentorship, to Masters, to manuals – all add value to vets and nurses in different ways.

“Given the public eye spotlight that vets and nurses find themselves under with social media, Congress is a place to relax and be part of the broader community. We are extremely proud of the value and service that we provide, delivered with passion and belief by the profession for the profession.”

This year’s expanded scientific programme provided high quality CPD, wetlabs, practical and interactive small group sessions. The busy exhibition and new lecture theatre within the exhibition floor were very well received with delegates accessing the latest industry insight and CPD from leading companies. Meanwhile a packed social programme is gave delegates the chance to unwind and let their hair down in style after hours.

New for this year were print on demand badging, hot food and a crèche. For the second year the double decker BSAVA Stand took centre stage on the Arena floor, with publications on the lower deck and member resources, education and CPD on the upper deck.

New Congress Chair, Tim Shearman, Director of Regulatory & Professional Affairs at VetPartners Ltd, co-chair of their clinical board and a long-term volunteer at the BSAVA, is already looking forward to starting work on 2020 Congress and plans to continue to support its growth and evolution in the build up towards Manchester in 2021.

He said: “Having attended BSAVA Congress since my student days, I am looking forward to be involved in the delivery of the high quality CPD, exhibition and social experience that comprises Congress, during an exciting period for the event.”
