BVA Launches New Employment Hub To Support Members With Workplace Issues
The British Veterinary Association (BVA) has launched a new employment hub which brings together lots of useful employment-related resources, advice and support. The hub is designed to support BVA members with a range of resources, inspiration and tailored advice for both employers and employees.
New statistics from the Voice of the Veterinary Profession Autumn 2023 survey show that one in four vets (26%) rate the human resources support and management in their workplace as ‘not very good’ or ‘terrible’. Confidential data gathered by BVA’s free legal helpline, which offers 24/7 advice, shows that contract disputes and grievance procedures are consistently among the top reasons members contact them.
BVA members with an employment-related issue may be referred to BVA’s mediation and representation service, which is provided through a partnership with the trade union Prospect.
BVA Junior Vice President Elizabeth Mullineaux, said: “Whether you’re an employee, an employer or a manager we all want to ensure that our workplaces have clear and effective structures and support in place to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and respectfully. This new hub pulls together the invaluable range of employment-related resources and advice BVA offers to members, on everything from pay and flexible working to employment contracts, giving employers and employees quick access to support with some of the most common queries in veterinary workplaces.”
The new hub offers a wide range of expert guides, topical articles and a link to BVA’s legal support helpline. It is available at https://www.bva.co.uk/resources-support/employment-hub/
