Tickets are now on sale for the Official Vet (OV) Conference Online 2023, which will take place from 19–21 September 2023.

The OV Conference is the UK’s only event dedicated to the continuing professional development (CPD) needs of Official Veterinarians, and is organised by Improve Veterinary Education, in association with the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA). Tickets can be purchased directly through the Conference Platform and cost £180 (including VAT) for access to every session across each of the three days.

As usual, speakers will focus on a variety of topics across the broader themes of exports, TB and other notifiable diseases. Amongst others, there will be presentations looking at the work of OVs at the BCP, cattle vaccine trials, and transmissible spongiform encephalopathies.

We are delighted to welcome back the UK’s CVO Christine Middlemiss to open the Conference, and to announce that Caroline Allen, Chief Vet of the RSPCA, will be our keynote speaker for 2023. Caroline will commence three packed days of sessions with her talk titled ‘Animal voice: empowering vets through animal welfare science and law’.

Popular speaker Ian Wright will also be returning to refresh the OVs on the latest Brucella canis situation in the UK, and Ashley Banyard will present an update on recent avian influenza research. In addition, David Harris, Michael Park and Ricardo de la Rua will host a two-hour session on TB updates in England, Scotland and Wales, followed by a Q&A.

Each of the talks and discussions will be moderated by returning Conference Chair Andrew Carrington BVSc MRCVS.

For the past nine years, the Official Vet Conference has provided informative lectures and panel discussions and aimed to build on the success of the previous OV Conferences, for which delegate feedback has been overwhelmingly positive:

There was a thoroughly balanced programme of interesting topics, well delivered.”

Very well presented and all tech worked well. Excellent quality of speakers.”

I found all the speakers very inspirational.”

This conference has been wonderful, I love that all of the webinars are available to us to view afterwards and that all of our questions have been answered. Thank you.”

As always I found all the presentations informative and very enjoyable with a lot of take-home messages”

Still the go-to conference for OVs!”

Over three days, delegates can enjoy access to ‘stress-free CPD’ – with the option to join live lectures, discussions and Q&As on the Conference Platform from wherever they are, and ongoing access to recordings for six months after the event.

Practices with multiple OVs attending who wish to be invoiced directly should encourage employees to register on the Conference Platform and then provide a list of names and invoicing details to [email protected]. Delegates on the One Health Capacity Building courses and any veterinary students who are interested in attending should contact [email protected] for further information and a discount code.
