CPD Provider The Webinar Vet receives £300,000 equity funding from the North West Fund

The online veterinary CPD provider, The Webinar Vet, has received a £300,000 venture capital investment from The North West Fund for Digital & Creative, as part of an overall £380,000 funding round. The company will use the funding to expand the team and further develop its digital platform, says the company’s founder and CEO, Anthony Chadwick MRCVS.

Based in Liverpool, The Webinar Vet is the leading provider of online CPD content for veterinary professionals in the UK, according to the company.

The company’s principal focus is delivering online webinars on a wide range of clinical and practice management topics: “We are delighted to have partnered with The North West Fund.  The capital, operating skill, and extensive network they bring to our business will help us develop new ways to help the veterinary community satisfy their CPD and other training requirements,” says Anthony.

“We operate via a community marketplace business model enabling our members to access content developed and delivered by veterinary specialists from around the globe, at any time, from any device.

“Many members are juggling busy family lives with their veterinary profession. Webinar CPD enables practitioners to keep up to date at any time in their own home or office,” he adds.

Rupert Wingate-Saul, investment manager at AXM Venture Capital, which manages The North West Fund for Digital & Creative, explains his company’s decision: “When looking for investments we like to find companies solving a real need for their customers. We believe The Webinar Vet platform achieves this and we are excited to help the company achieve its next stage of growth.

Anthony qualified from Liverpool University in 1990, and it is his vision that has driven the business through its first stage of growth, says Rupert. “Profitable from inception and self-funded to date, this investment round led by the North West Fund represents the first external capital raised by the company,” he adds.

As part of the funding round, Dr Lydia Brown MBE FRCVS will join the board.  Dr Brown is a former President of the RCVS, and helped lead the management buy-out of Pharmaq, an aquatic health group recently acquired for EUR250m.

The North West Fund is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Investment Bank (EIB)
