This month saw the UK’s biggest betting horse race, the ‘Grand National,’ take place – a popular yet sometimes controversial event due to the number of horses killed or injured in it over the past decade.
Woodlands Equine Clinic in Berkshire, which diagnoses and treats such injured racehorses, are making use of the Sony FilmStation as an innovative way to achieve higher quality prints of X-rays performed on the horses.
Available from the diagnostic imaging specialists M.A.S. Medical, the device features a DICOM printer and reinvents dry print imaging to save time, space and money. The FilmStation’s compact size and vertical adaptability means it can be easily integrated into any radiology environment.
It is capable of producing prints in less than a minute, and is also user friendly with its easy-to-read LCD panel, simple-to-load film, and minimal maintenance requirements. Further flexibility is provided with the SONY Dual Tray FilmStation imager, which adds a second output tray to accommodate multiple film sizes.
Peter Thurlow of Woodlands Equine Services said: “At Woodlands we offer a full surgical facility and in-house laboratory and to suit this busy working environment we required a printer that could produce high quality images in an economical format.”
“M.A.S. Medical’s FilmStation allows for a print quality of such high standard that we are now seeing details on the radiographs that weren’t seen on our viewing screens before.”
