CVS Supports Search And Rescue Dogs

CVS has donated vaccines for the dogs of the Search and Rescue Dog Association (SARDA), England, which assists in the search and rescue of individuals missing or in difficulties in inhospitable terrain and open country, collapsed structures or watercourses. The charity's dogs, all owned by their handlers, have recently completed a busy deployment helping in flood-hit regions of the UK, including Cumbria and Yorkshire.
On Saturday 5 March 2016, the dogs and handlers met for their March National Training Weekend at Castleshaw Outdoor Centre in Oldham. During the day, CVS vet Vicky Weedon from Yorkshire-based West Mount Vets, gave them all a health check and vaccinated them. Ms Weedon has a long-standing relationship with the charity and its dogs.
Commenting on the day, she said: "I have been involved with SARDA for several years now and it is always a pleasure to meet up with this amazing group of volunteers and their dogs. As a keen hill walker, I hope I never need the service they provide, but if I did, I know I would be in excellent hands. I am very grateful to West Mount Vets and to CVS for continuing to support SARDA."
Steve Ward, Trustee and Graded Dogs Training Officer from SARDA England, added: "The check-ups, treatments and vaccinations provided free by CVS are essential in maintaining the health of our most valuable assets, our search dogs. This vital help ensures our dog teams are in top condition and ready for the next call out."
