CVS Trains First In-house Team To Deliver Psychometric Team-building Sessions Across Company
As part of its goal of offering the best learning, education and development in the profession, CVS has upskilled an in-house team to deliver psychometric training throughout the company.
The aim is for colleagues to become more self-aware, to understand their communication and operational styles, and build better teams.
Four CVS colleagues have so far become accredited ‘Insights’[1] trainers helping colleagues to identify their personality type.
In a first for the veterinary sector, the Insights trainers will visit hundreds of CVS small animal practices and site locations, over the coming months to run the training with their teams. Each team session will run over the course of one day, with a further team follow up. It is expected that training will be run with thousands of CVScolleagues. Over 280 colleagues have attended the course so far.
To deliver the training, the CVS accredited trainers will use an ‘Insights Discovery’ psychometric tool based on the psychology of Carl Jung. This tool uses a simple four colour model to help colleagues understand themselves, their style, their strengths and the value they bring to the team.
The training is also designed to help colleagues recognise and appreciate the behaviour of others, so that they can make the most of their workplace relationships and to create a culture of inclusion.

This will support individual and team effectiveness and ensure we have the best veterinary colleagues delivering the best possible care to animals.”
After the initial one day training course, Insight sessions will continue to be run by management teams at CVS practices and sites, for ongoing personal and team development. Team meeting sessions will be held, which will include Insight topics such as team communication, making meetings matter, supporting through stress, and embedding the language of colour at work.
