Delegates at BVA Congress had the opportunity to learn more about Dechra Veterinary Products' dermatology campaign during the three day event in Liverpool.
The It's Time to Change campaign, focused on otitis externa, was launched amid debate over the growing issue of antimicrobial resistance, which was also the theme for the Congress.
Dechra Veterinary Products' UK and Ireland Country Manager Bob Parmenter said: “We were delighted to welcome so many veterinary professionals to our stand at BVA Congress, where the team were on hand to talk to visitors about It's Time to Change.
“The campaign was launched earlier this year and aims to provide assistance in diagnosing the organisms associated with otitis externa, support in choosing the correct approach to control as well as help in educating owners to apply and use topical antibiotic treatments correctly.”
Professor David Heymann delivered the Wooldridge Memorial Lecture which discussed the veterinary profession’s vital contribution to public health and how it can be developed further, with particular regard to how addressing the determinants of emerging infections at their source could prevent emergence and the negative impact it causes.
Mr Parmenter added: “We had a range of support material available for delegates at Congress, which focused on the It's Time to Change three step approach to addressing otitis externa: Diagnose, Control and Maintain.”
A new website www.dechra.com/timetochange has been launched to coincide with the campaign which provides online CPD focusing on skin and ear cytology, presented by Peter Forsythe BVM&S DVD MRCVS RVCS Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology.
