Flat panel digital radiography is now available without having to invest in a completely new X-ray system. The retrofit solution “Medici” consisting of a flat panel detector, PC with user friendly operation via touchscreen and the acquisition software dicomPACS®DX-R can be integrated easily into existing X-ray units for generating direct digital X-ray images. The software can also control X-ray generators, enabling an ideal work process. The solution developed by OR Technology is closely adapted to the requirements of a veterinary practice with patients varying in regard to species and size. “Medici” is being used with great success in Dr. Johannes Frahms’ Veterinary clinic for small animals in Wasbek, Germany. “I am very happy with the workflow in image generation” says Dr. Frahm.“A good image is provided very quickly and transfer to other monitors is wonderfully easy and just requires a single click. The consistent image quality also contributes to making procedures faster and easier”. Special features of the software include the body part strucures for small and exotic animals as well as horses with countless adjustment variations that can be adapted specifically to the needs of the doctor .The integrated radiographic positioning guide provides detailed instructions on exact positioning as well as correct X-ray images and a lot of tips and tricks. The solution is completed by the easy and fast operation via touch screen or mouse control. After capturing, X-ray images are transferred in DICOM format into a PACS system. Integrated communication with patient management systems (HIS, RIS and others) allows quick and easy exchange of task requests. The generated X-ray images can be evaluated directly by means of the fully integrated dicomPACS® diagnostic module in the “Medici” system or in PACS. About OR Technology OR Technology has been operating in the area of digital image processing since 1991 targeting the national and international market. The company, located in Rostock, Germany, provides system solutions for conventional and digital X-ray technology in human and veterinary medicine.
