Canine first aid training
Edinburgh Brewdog Hotel Staff Learn Canine First Aid From Expert At Special Event
Edinburgh's Brewdog hotel staff got a crash course in canine first aid at a special training event this weekend.
Guests and their dogs, including representatives from the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, attended the event organised by Brewski's Biscuits, which was held in the Atrium at the hotel in New Street.
Then, together with staff from the hotel, the group took part in a canine first aid course, with leading training provider Rachel Bean RVN.
Rachel, who wrote the Ofqual accredited iPET Network qualification in canine first aid, said: "It was so wonderful to see how important Brewdog places pet safety in its dog friendly hotels, and we had a wonderful session with staff and party guests.
"Canine first aid is really important, as so many things can go wrong when you take your dog out and about. The more people know the basics, in as many settings as possible the better."
Rachel is an ambassador for the national Safe Pets and People campaign, which is pushing for all UK pet professionals to have a canine first aid qualification.
The special 'Pawty' event also served as a launch for a new range of Brewski's biscuits products, which are on sale at Brewdog venues around the UK.
Brewski's biscuits was the lockdown brainchild of dog-lover Clare Douglas, who came up with a novel way to use brewery byproducts in her range of healthy and nutritious canine snacks.
Clare said: "We are so excited to see these news products launch, but wanted our party to have a purpose too.
"The canine first aid session was the perfect way to give our guests, and Brewdog staff and take home present that is meaningful, and everyone enjoyed the day so much.
"Of course everyone got a goody bag too, and it was wonderful to see so many pets and owners in their Brewski's party hats. As a small business owner it really was quite a moment."
