Some of the first cohort of students on the Veterinary Science: Accelerated Graduate Entry (BVSc) programme
First Cohort Graduate From Bristol Veterinary School’s Fast-track Vet Course
Bristol Veterinary School’s first ever cohort of students on the Veterinary Science: Accelerated Graduate Entry (BVSc) programme are set to graduate at ceremonies in Bristoland Langford on Thursday the third of August 2023.
The course was launched in 2019 in response to calls for innovation in veterinary education, specifically to enablegraduates of a relevant science subject to complete the BVSc in four years instead of five.
The class of 2023 will receive their degrees at the Wills Memorial Building before attending the RCVS ceremony and celebrations at Bristol Veterinary School, in the grounds of the Langford campus.
Professor Tim Parkin, Head of Bristol Veterinary School, said:
“We are incredibly proud to celebrate the graduation of this first cohort – having watched them grow from day one to become the competent veterinary professionals they are today.
The success of this first cohort reflects both their commitment and hard work, as well the high quality of teaching delivered by Bristol Veterinary School staff.
The class have benefited from access to nationally and internationally recognised experts and unique teaching methods delivered through case-based, tutor facilitated learning. I am very proud of the achievements of both staff and students - and wish our graduands the best of luck as they embark on their veterinary careers.”
Despite the challenges of teaching and studying on a brand-new course during covid restrictions, the class of 37 students - made up entirely of mature students ranging in age from 25 to 46 years year old - have thrived.
After graduation they will begin their various careers in variety of locations - from veterinary practices all over the UK, to Sydney and Canada – thanks to Bristol Veterinary School’s accreditations.
The graduands will be working across a diverse range of organisations including small animal practices and equine centres, some of which were arranged through contacts made during study placements.
