Fitzpatrick Referrals is delighted to announce its intention to formalise the various parts of its offering as business entities and from this month, will become known as The Fitzpatrick Group. The Fitzpatrick Group will encompass Fitzpatrick Referrals, Fitzpatrick Learning Academy and a number of additional businesses which the company plans to launch in the future. When Fitzpatrick Referrals launched in 2008, Noel Fitzpatrick described the opening of the state-of-the-art practice in Eashing, Surrey as the “first peg in the ground” towards achieving his vision – to move science forward, creating a better world for animals and each other. The Fitzpatrick Referrals Hospital has been successful over the last four years in developing a unique offering to the profession and public in its commitment to provide all of the options all of the time to referring vets and their clients. The formation of The Fitzpatrick Group marks the second step in the journey to achieving Noel Fitzpatrick’s vision and the group of businesses will operate around five key initiatives; Developing Ideas (Innovation), Developing Good Practice, Developing Learning, Developing People and Developing Solutions to Chronic Diseases. The first of the businesses to launch as part of the group is Fitzbionics, a company that designs and makes innovative implants for orthopaedics and neurosurgery, such as total joint replacement prostheses and spinal fusion systems. The Fitzpatrick Learning Academy launched in 2011 and will now which operate under the Directorship of Professor Stuart Carmichael, who recently joined the company. Commenting on the formation of The Fitzpatrick Group and the recent key appointment, Noel Fitzpatrick, Managing Director of Fitzpatrick Referrals said; “The decision to formalise our businesses and services under one umbrella marks an important milestone for the company and in the pursuit of my vision. We are about to do something truly exciting - something that has never been done before. We’re essentially creating a new movement, a new sense of identity at every level in the company, from animal care, client service, primary care clinician service, education and innovation to point of care delivery. We are currently developing a strategy to deliver against our initiatives, the Fitzpatrick Learning Academy being one of those initiatives and we will have more exciting news to share regarding new services in the coming months.” He added; “I’m delighted to have Professor Stuart Carmichael on Board to steer the Fitzpatrick Learning Academy forward and support us in the establishment of The Group’s new business ventures.” Professor Carmichael will join the team of five orthopaedic and spinal surgeons to bring the team to six, including four fully boarded specialists, and will take a major management role in developing the new programmes which are being rolled out at the present time. Stuart will be instrumental in building a new portfolio for the Fitzpatrick Learning Academy and in The Group as a whole. Speaking about his new role, Professor Carmichael commented; “I am extremely excited to be joining The Fitzpatrick Group and look forward to using my experience to facilitate the planned expansion and ensure ongoing success.  The combination of innovation, experience, expertise and educational potential is compelling.  I feel strongly that, as a profession, we need to be looking forwards to meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of our patients in a rapidly changing medical environment.”  He added: “I believe that The Fitzpatrick Group are attempting to meet this challenge with the express aim of improving our patients lives by increasing the options for treatment.  I have always been a strong believer in the concept of ‘one medicine’ and of the importance of evidence based outcomes. This is the mantra of The Fitzpatrick Group and one of the key reasons why I have joined the team.”
