Grove Lodge Vets also pride themselves on working very closely with the local community’s animal charities including Dogs Trust Shoreham, RSPCA Brighton; with their community work extending to sponsoring Shoreham FC under 8s’ shirts (pictured), giving regular school visits educating pupils about importance of caring for animals and environment, as well as providing regular evening talks to pet-lovers on how to choose a happy healthy dog, spotting signs of arthritis, first aid tips, etc. As well as local school children Grove Lodge Vets educate the rest of the community via a weekly column in the local paper as well as an extremely popular social media presence on Facebook and Twitter; they even organise a hugely popular annual Bands Night raising money for rescue pets. Grove Lodge Vet Marc Abraham says “Sadly during tough economic times, pets are sometimes last to receive treatment with some even being abandoned as a result, so we’re keen to make sure good responsible pet ownership remains affordable resulting in less abandonment and strays on our community’s streets. Also at Grove Lodge Vets we’re all very conscious of local animal welfare so the more children we educate the better our community’s pets will be looked after in the future.” Shoreham FC under 8s Team manager, John Rhodie, said “The kit launch day was one to remember and thinks other local organisations should follow Grove Lodge Vets’ lead. This is what I call true community spirit and support,” he said. Winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony in Worthing on Friday November 16th 2012.
