Following the recent announcement of its move into veterinary event management and publishing, Improve International, has launched its first textbooks.

The Improve International Manual of Small Animal Surgery, a two-volume set edited by Dr Hannes Bergmann, a Small Animal Specialist working in referrals and a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons. The first volume covers soft tissue surgery while the second focuses on orthopaedics.

The Improve International Manual of Small Animal Medicine, covering haematology, respiratory disease, cardiovascular medicine, cytology, emergency medicine, dermatology and other clinically important topics, will be available later this year.

Improve, a global leader in veterinary CPD, has launched the books primarily to support delegates on its flagship Postgraduate Certificate training programmes as part of its blended learning approach.  They are also intended to offer a useful reference source for other veterinary surgeons and support their daily practice.

Mr John Douglass, General Manager of Improve International, explained: “We feel it is important to provide content in a range of formats to suit different learning styles. The face to face elements of our programmes are critical and our delegates also benefit from great technology-based support, including an online learning platform and other resources.  We hope that our new range of books will complement these tools and offer our delegates greater depth of learning. They will also offer an easily accessible resource for those in need of a quick ‘look up’ in practice.”

He added: “Written by Specialists from around the world, our textbooks focus on the practical application of current veterinary knowledge with top tips and key advice throughout.”

One of the world’s leading veterinary training companies, Improve International is celebrating its 21st anniversary during 2019.  Founded by a team of UK vets, the company has trained more than 20,000 veterinary professionals in 20 countries around the world.  In the delivery of its programmes, it works closely with its assessment partner, the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ESVPS), and with Harper Adams University, which provides the higher education body quality assurance.

The new books can be purchased from www.improveinternational.com/uk/books , www.5mbooks.com or from booksellers worldwide.  They are also available in Spanish with translations into additional languages planned.

Part of Benchmark Plc and based in Swindon, with an additional facility in Sheffield, Improve International provides high quality CPD in a range of formats for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses to help them to develop their skills and knowledge, using a combination of review lectures, case-based discussions and where, applicable, hands-on practical sessions.
